Transgrid is excited to be running our award-winning Pre-Apprentice Program for Women in Yass and Wagga, providing you with hands-on experience with real work crews along with highly interactive National Recognised training that supports credit towards a variety of electrical supply industry (ESI) qualifications.

The program is the perfect opportunity to discover if the industry is right for you before committing to a full apprenticeship.

Learning modules include:

• UEECD0007 - Apply Work Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
• UEECD0046 - Solve problems in single path circuits

• Program end date: Friday, 4th April 2025

Please note as the program is conducted during the school term, if you are in high school you must supply written approval from your school in the application stage to participate in this program.

Training program details:

Take the first step towards your exciting new career! Join us for practical training and work experience at our Transgrid depot in Wagga and Yass. Our skilled training and technicians will guide you through a substation tour, power station tour, hand skills and wiring training, and much more.

You will be assigned to a group upon commencement and expected to complete further online self-paced learning at home. With on-site learning spanning across 5-weeks, this is your chance to step outside of your comfort zone and learn something new.

Training schedule:

• Week 1 – Classroom and online training
• Week 2 - Classroom and online training
• Week 3 – In field Work Experience
• Week 4 - In field Work Experience
• Week 5 – Final assessments and graduation

To be considered, you must have:

• Eagerness to join and complete the Pre-Apprentice Program
• Ability to travel and stay in remote locations for multiple nights during work experience activities.
• Interest in finding out more about the electrical supply industry
• Transport arrangements to attend your local Yass or Wagga Regional Centres for in-person study components and work experience.
• Completed minimum Year 10 school studies
• Ability to commit to the attendance requirements in the training program dates listed above
