The Opportunity | Senior Site Manager | Newcastle & Hunter Region

We are seeking experienced Senior Site Managers to join our Infrastructure Delivery, Construction team and help lead the safe and effective delivery of critical high-voltage infrastructure across NSW.

Reporting to the relevant Construction Team Manager, you will provide senior site leadership across construction, testing, commissioning and contractor-delivered works. This role will see you plan and coordinate allocated work packages, monitor project progress and contractor performance, support contract administration, manage key site documentation and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard.

This is a hands-on, field-focused leadership role suited to someone who can operate with a high level of autonomy, balance multiple priorities and provide practical leadership across complex construction environments. This is a field-based construction role requiring regular and significant travel across NSW, including travel between depots, project sites and regional work fronts. Depending on project requirements, you may be required to spend periods of time away from your nominated base location.

A Day in the Life

No two days will look the same, but you could be:

  • Planning and coordinating construction and commissioning activities across allocated work packages
  • Monitoring contractor and subcontractor performance, progress, quality and safety
  • Reviewing specifications, tender documentation, drawings, work packs and handover requirements
  • Supporting contract administration, including contractor claims, records, materials and specialist services
  • Facilitating pre-starts, WHS planning, HAZCON activities and site-specific inductions
  • Managing project documentation, reporting progress and escalating risks or issues early
  • Working closely with Maintenance, HSE, Project Delivery, contractors and other internal stakeholders
  • Supporting project completion, commissioning, handover and close-out activities

Why this role matters

As a Senior Site Manager, you will play a key role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers NSW and the ACT.

You will be trusted to lead from the front, create clarity on site, support safe work practices and help ensure construction activities are delivered to a high standard. Your ability to coordinate people, contractors, resources and stakeholders will directly influence the safety, quality and success of our construction delivery program.

This is an opportunity to join a growing construction workforce and contribute to the long-term capability that will support Transgrid’s current and future infrastructure pipeline.

About You

You are an organised, practical and safety-focused construction leader who is confident operating in complex site environments. You take ownership, communicate clearly and know how to bring contractors, project teams and stakeholders together to deliver safe and effective outcomes.

You will bring:

  • An electrical trade certificate, Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management or equivalent, or a relevant Engineering or Project Management degree
  • Strong construction planning, site management and contractor performance management experience
  • Sound understanding of WHS and environmental legislation, site safety management and construction risk controls
  • Experience supporting contract administration, contractor claims, tender documentation or project reporting
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of drawings, design documentation, project systems and construction records
  • Authorisation under Transgrid’s Safety Rules, or willingness to obtain this
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel or spend time away from base location as required
