Location: Yass, NSW, Australia

Company: TransGrid

About Us

At Transgrid, our work improves the lives of millions – from lighting up sports fields, schools and homes, to powering the wheels of commerce and everything else in between. Now it’s your turn to make it happen.

This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.

The Opportunity | 12m fixed-term contract

In this role, you’ll be a trusted trainer and advisor, helping our Major Projects teams build the skills they need to work safely and effectively. Your primary focus will be delivering and assessing PSSR training across key project sites, particularly HumeLink. You’ll use a variety of training methods to suit different learning styles and environments, including project camps and JV facilities.

You will also contribute to the design and improvement of training materials to ensure they’re practical, relevant, and engaging. When not delivering PSSR training, you’ll have the opportunity to support other technical training activities aligned with the broader Technical Trainer role.

This is a field-based role that can be based at any Transgrid depot, including Eastern Creek, Newcastle, Orange, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga, or Yass. The role involves regular travel across southern NSW, covering locations from Bannaby to Wagga Wagga and from Tumut to Maragle. While applications are welcomed from all listed locations, Wagga Wagga and Yass are the preferred base locations.

We are committed to helping our people grow – you’ll be supported to develop your skills in training delivery, methods, and processes, with access to ongoing upskilling opportunities.

About You

You’re someone who thrives in the field, works independently, and builds strong rapport with project teams. You bring a solid understanding of how effective training works and are confident using company systems to support learning.

You will also have:

  • Certificate III from the Electricity Supply Industry or Electrotechnology Training Packages, plus extensive relevant experience.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain within the first 6 months).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of training delivery and evaluation concepts.
  • Familiarity with Transgrid’s Environmental and WHS policies and procedures.
  • A current NSW driver’s license.
  • A strong field presence and the ability to travel regularly across southern NSW.
