About Transgrid

At Transgrid, we power the lives of millions of Australians, connecting communities, industries, and renewable energy sources across NSW and the ACT.

As Australia’s energy system rapidly evolves, we’re delivering some of the nation’s most significant energy infrastructure projects, enabling renewable energy zones, strengthening interstate connections, and supporting a more sustainable future.

Alongside this transformation is a major opportunity to improve the digital experiences that support our people, operations, and critical infrastructure systems. That’s where this role comes in.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a UX Lead to drive the evolution of user experience across Transgrid’s digital ecosystem.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role focused on improving how people interact with the systems, tools, and platforms that underpin our operations. You’ll work across complex environments spanning operational, enterprise, and digital transformation initiatives, helping teams deliver intuitive, efficient, and human-centred experiences at scale.

Partnering closely with Product, Technology, Delivery, and Business leaders, you’ll lead initiatives from discovery through to implementation, influence digital strategy, and champion best-practice Human-Centred Design across the organisation.

You’ll also play a key role in uplifting UX maturity, embedding consistent design approaches, and building strong UX capability across teams.

This is an opportunity to shape meaningful experiences within critical national infrastructure, combining purpose-driven work with enterprise-scale complexity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead UX strategy and delivery across major digital and transformation initiatives
  • Drive Human-Centred Design practices across product, technology, and business teams
  • Facilitate discovery, research, ideation, prototyping, and validation activities
  • Design end-to-end experiences that simplify complex workflows and improve operational outcomes
  • Collaborate with Product Leads, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to shape scalable solutions
  • Develop UX artefacts including journey maps, service blueprints, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Influence digital strategy, experience standards, and platform direction
  • Present insights, concepts, and recommendations to senior leaders and executive stakeholders
  • Mentor designers and help grow UX capability and community of practice across the organisation
  • Champion consistency, accessibility, usability, and continuous improvement across the digital experience

About You

You’re a thoughtful and influential UX leader who enjoys solving complex problems and creating experiences that genuinely improve how people work.

You combine strategic thinking with strong delivery capability and are comfortable navigating large, evolving organisations where collaboration and influence are critical.

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience leading UX initiatives within enterprise, infrastructure, technology, or transformation environments
  • Strong end-to-end UX capability across research, service design, interaction design, and delivery
  • Experience applying Human-Centred Design and Design Thinking methodologies in complex settings
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and align diverse teams around user and business needs
  • Confidence facilitating workshops, presenting ideas, and communicating with senior stakeholders
  • Experience building UX capability, mentoring others, and fostering design maturity
  • A collaborative mindset and passion for continuous improvement
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in UX, Design, HCI, Service Design, or related disciplines
  • Experience working within operational, industrial, utilities, engineering, or highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.

Why Join Transgrid?

This is a chance to work on meaningful challenges that directly support Australia’s energy future.
