The Opportunity
As Team Leader – Protection and Metering Design you will lead a team of Design Engineers responsible for delivering high-quality designs that support our projects, network operations, and asset maintenance.
You will oversee the delivery of designs, provide specialist technical advice, develop design standards, and oversee the delivery of protection and metering designs both internally and through external providers.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain high team productivity, quality standards, and technical competency.
- Lead and review detailed Protection and Metering designs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Transgrid standards.
- Plan, manage, and report on design projects including coordinating internal and external resources to meet timelines and service levels.
- Drive peer reviews, technical assessments, lessons learned, and improvement initiatives to enhance design quality and delivery efficiency.
About You
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in managing engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes, or experience overseeing and mentoring a team from a Senior Engineer level.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in protection and metering design for high-voltage transmission, generation, or distribution systems.
- Sound understanding of Safety in Design, National Electricity Rules (NER), and relevant Australian standards.
- Experience reviewing and approving external designs with a solid grasp of design quality assurance processes.
