The Opportunity

 

In your role as Team Leader – Equipment Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of Equipment Engineers who provide expert technical support across Transgrid’s high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) equipment portfolio.

 

This role ensures the delivery of high-quality engineering services to support capital projects, operations, maintenance, and technical investigations.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Lead a team of Equipment Engineers encouraging high performance and collaboration.
  • Support the development, review, and improvement of technical standards and specifications for HV and MV equipment to support projects, operations and maintenance.
  • Provide expert technical advice on substation equipment to support projects, operations, and maintenance.
  • Oversee supplier engagement, including tender evaluation, capability assessments, equipment design reviews, factory/site inspections, and ensuring equipment meets quality, and safety requirements.
  • Develop innovative solutions including the introduction of new types of primary equipment into the network.

 

About You

 

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering with extensive experience in High Voltage equipment specification, design, testing, and verification.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, and managing a team
  • Extensive knowledge of power systems equipment and maintenance practice.
  • An understanding of safety in design principles with experience negotiating design enhancements with suppliers.
  • Experience in engineering practice including drawings, drawing systems and project skills.
