We are currently seeking a Strategic Communications Lead to join our Corporate Affairs team on a 10-month fixed-term parental leave contract. In this pivotal role, you will shape and execute strategic internal communications that connect our people to purpose, elevate employee engagement, and support business priorities. Your storytelling expertise and ability to translate complex initiatives into compelling, people-centred messages will help drive transparency, alignment, and a strong internal culture.
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Corporate Communications, you will serve as the dedicated communications advisor for a key business unit, working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to deliver communications that enhance our employer brand and employee experience and engagement. This is a high-impact, fast-paced role where you’ll act as a trusted partner, providing strategic advice and delivering integrated, multi-channel communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of Transgrid’s internal communications strategy across a designated business unit.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute communication plans that align with organisational goals and support key initiatives.
- Craft clear, engaging, and impactful content across internal channels (e.g. newsletters, intranet, town halls, roadshow, videos).
- Translate complex business information into compelling narratives that resonate with diverse employee groups.
- Ensure consistency of messaging, tone of voice, and alignment with brand and cultural values.
- Provide expert advice on communication risks and opportunities, and measure the effectiveness of communications activities.
- Support some external communications where needed.
About You
You’re a confident communicator, trusted advisor, and natural storyteller with a proven track record in leading internal communications for large, complex organisations.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related discipline – or equivalent industry experience.
- 10+ years’ experience in internal or corporate communications, including content development and strategic planning.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to consult, collaborate, and build trusted relationships across the organisation.
- Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess communication needs and evaluate outcomes.
