Join our Network business unit as a Senior Engineer, Network Connections and help enable the next generation of renewable generation, storage and major load projects to connect to the grid.

 

Reporting to the Team Lead, you will work across the Network and Operations business unit to develop network models, perform detailed analysis and streamline processes that support efficient power system studies. You will assess the impact of generator connections on the transmission network and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement practical, innovative solutions to generator and system performance issues.

 

This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, with flexibility for remote work.

 

What You Will Be Responsible For

 

As a trusted technical specialist, you will lead detailed modelling and analysis that shapes project outcomes. You will apply expert engineering judgment to complex system issues, develop power system models, and provide clear advice to stakeholders.

 

You will also uplift modelling capability, support process improvements, and contribute to guidelines and tools that enhance connection processes.

 

You will:

 

  • Lead technical assessments for generation, storage and load connections, including GPS requirements, performance standards and compliance
  • Perform and review detailed power system studies using PSCAD, PSS®E or PowerFactory
  • Provide expert engineering advice to internal teams, AEMO, customers and industry partners
  • Develop and enhance modelling methodologies, analysis processes and technical documentation
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports, briefs and presentations
  • Mentor engineers and support capability uplift across the team

 

 

About You

 

You are a proactive and solutions focused engineer who enjoys tackling complex technical challenges. You bring clear thinking, steady leadership, and the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships.

 

You bring:

 

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant industry experience in generator connections within the NEM, including experience in synchronous/asynchronous generator connections and load connections
  • Proficiency with PSS®E, PSCAD software and Python-based automation
  • Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals, the NER, GPS requirements, and associated technical assessments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to effectively engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical assessments and providing expert technical advice
