About Us

At Transgrid, our work improves the lives of millions – from lighting up sports fields, schools and homes, to powering the wheels of commerce and everything else in between. Now it’s your turn to make it happen.

This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.

The Opportunity

Step into a role where your expertise will directly shape the future of Australia’s energy system. As we deliver nation-building renewable energy projects that will power communities for decades, you’ll have the opportunity to influence high-impact decisions, guide regulatory strategy, and contribute to meaningful change at scale.

We’re growing — fast — and are looking for a Senior Manager Regulation to join our Regulatory and Policy team and report to the Director of Regulation.  As Senior Manager, Regulation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering TransGrid’s regulatory strategy at a time of significant change across the energy sector. Reporting to the General Manager, Regulation and Policy, this role sits at the centre of TransGrid’s engagement with economic regulation and reform, supporting the business through a major regulatory reset that will influence future revenue outcomes and long‑term network investment.

You will lead the development of regulatory positions, submissions and reform proposals for executive leadership, the Board and external decision‑makers, while actively engaging with regulators, industry bodies and government stakeholders. Working closely with senior leaders across Finance, Strategy and the broader business, you will ensure TransGrid’s regulatory strategy is aligned to corporate objectives and responsive to an evolving energy market.

This is a highly influential role, combining deep technical regulatory expertise with strategic leadership, stakeholder management and advocacy. You will also contribute to building regulatory capability across the organisation and lead a small, high-performing team.

About you

We’re seeking an experienced regulatory leader with a strong background in the utilities sector, ideally within energy transmission, distribution or broader regulated infrastructure. You will bring a proven understanding of regulatory economics and hands-on experience navigating revenue determinations, rule changes or major reset processes within a complex regulatory framework.

Key requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in economic regulation, ideally gained within electricity or gas networks or a closely aligned regulated utility
  • Demonstrated experience working through a regulatory reset, access arrangement or revenue proposal, with the ability to anticipate impacts and shape strategic responses
  • Strong understanding of regulatory economics principles, policy development and reform within the Australian energy market
  • A track record of influencing regulators, industry bodies and senior stakeholders through high-quality written submissions and confident verbal advocacy
  • Experience advising executive leadership and contributing to organisational and regulatory strategy
  • Strong leadership capability, including developing talent and leading work programs in complex, ambiguous environments
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics or equivalent relevant experience

This role will suit someone who combines technical credibility with strategic insight, is comfortable operating at senior levels internally and externally, and is motivated by the opportunity to shape regulatory outcomes that underpin Australia’s energy transition.
