Senior Manager - Governance, Reporting & Innovation

Date: 29 Apr 2026

Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia

Company: TransGrid

At Transgrid, we don’t just operate the grid, we keep it safe, reliable, and performing at scale every day. Our Operations and Maintenance teams are responsible for the ongoing performance of critical transmission assets across NSW and the ACT, ensuring energy continues to flow to homes, businesses, and communities.

As the system evolves, so too does the complexity of operating it safely and efficiently. This role sits at the centre of that evolution, strengthening governance, improving visibility of performance, and driving innovation to support a safer and more resilient network.

The Opportunity | Sydney & Newcastle

This is a newly created senior leadership role bringing together governance, reporting, and innovation into one high impact function across Operations and Maintenance. This opportunity is open to candidates to be based out of our Sydney Office, Eastern Creek Depot or Newcastle/Hunter Depot as well.

You will operate at the centre of Transgrid’s operational environment, shaping how O&M governs itself, how performance is measured and understood, and how the business evolves to meet future system demands. This is not just about maintaining standards, it is about lifting maturity, driving consistency, and embedding a more forward looking, data led approach to operations. The role has a strong enterprise lens, working across a complex, safety critical asset base and influencing outcomes across multiple functions. You will play a key role in aligning operational delivery with regulatory expectations, organisational priorities, and emerging industry trends, while also identifying opportunities to modernise how work is done.

A critical part of your remit will be building and leading a newly formed team, bringing together capability across governance, reporting, and innovation. You will set the direction, define the operating rhythm, and establish this function as a trusted and high performing partner to the broader O and M business.

A Day in the Life

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will operate across both strategy and execution, engaging with senior leaders while staying connected to operational delivery.

Your day will typically involve:

  • Leading the uplift of governance frameworks, ensuring consistency, compliance, and clear accountability across O&M
  • Overseeing reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics, translating data into clear and actionable insights for leaders
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives, including digital optimisation and new ways of working
  • Strengthening risk management practices, ensuring operational, technical, and emerging risks are identified and managed effectively
  • Coaching and leading your team while partnering across engineering, asset management, IT, and field operations to embed change

Why this role matters

This role plays a critical part in ensuring Transgrid’s network is operated safely, reliably, and in line with regulatory expectations. By strengthening governance and reporting, you will improve accountability and decision making. Through innovation, you will help evolve how the network is operated to meet future demands.

About You

You are an experienced leader who understands how to operate in complex, regulated, and safety critical environments. You bring a balance of strategic thinking, operational awareness, and the ability to lead change at scale.

Your background includes:

  • Experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, or asset management
  • Strong capability in governance, risk, compliance, and reporting frameworks
  • Proven experience leading innovation, transformation, or digital initiatives
  • Understanding of safety critical operations and asset performance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability

Safety and Leadership at Transgrid

For us, safety and leadership are inseparable. As a senior leader, you are responsible not just for what is delivered, but how it is delivered. This role plays a critical part in reinforcing a culture where safety is embedded in every decision, every action, and every outcome.

You will lead through our principles of Courage, Care, Clarity, and Connection, setting the tone for how teams operate across Operations and Maintenance. This includes creating an environment where people feel accountable, supported, and empowered to speak up, improve, and deliver safely.

In this role, you will:

  • Champion a safety-first culture where the wellbeing of our people is always the priority
  • Lead with care and accountability, ensuring strong safety behaviours across your team and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate courage by challenging unsafe practices and driving continuous improvement
  • Create clarity around expectations, risks, and what safe and successful delivery looks like
  • Build connection across teams to embed consistent safety and leadership standards
