Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia
Company: TransGrid

At Transgrid, we play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to millions of Australians. Operating over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, we connect electricity generators to the distribution network—powering homes, businesses, and communities.
As our delivery portfolio continues to grow in scale and complexity, we are looking for a senior leader to strengthen how constructability, integration and whole-of-life engineering thinking are embedded into project design and delivery from the outset.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of engineering design and construction delivery.
As Senior Manager, Integration and Constructability, you will lead the uplift of constructability and integration capability across Transgrid’s major infrastructure portfolio. You will influence how engineering solutions are shaped early, ensuring projects are practical to build, safe to deliver, efficient to commission and fit for long-term operational performance.
Reporting to the GM Engineering & Design, you will provide both strategic leadership and technical authority across design governance, value engineering, project interfaces, delivery readiness and whole-of-life engineering outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to shape and mature the role over time, bringing your expertise to define how this capability best supports the broader business.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will:
- Lead constructability and integration thinking across major engineering and design activities
- Partner with Delivery, Operations, Commissioning and contractors to ensure solutions are practical and field-ready
- Influence design standards, technical governance and delivery readiness across the project lifecycle
- Drive value engineering outcomes that improve cost, risk, performance and long-term asset outcomes
- Provide technical leadership across project interfaces, optioneering and continuous improvement initiatives
Why this role matters
This role plays a critical part in improving how Transgrid delivers its multi-billion-dollar infrastructure portfolio.
By embedding practical, whole-of-life and constructability-led thinking early, this role helps de-risk delivery, improve buildability, strengthen cross-functional alignment and deliver better long-term outcomes for our assets, projects and communities.
About You
You are a senior engineering leader with the ability to combine technical credibility, delivery pragmatism and enterprise influence.
You will likely bring experience from energy, utilities, transmission or similarly complex infrastructure environments, with a strong understanding of how engineering decisions impact construction outcomes, commissioning, operability and long-term asset performance.
You will also bring:
- Significant leadership experience across engineering, design and project delivery environments
- Strong constructability, integration and value engineering capability
- Experience working across complex, matrixed stakeholder groups
- The ability to influence senior leaders, technical specialists and delivery teams alike
- Strong commercial and practical judgement, with a focus on fit-for-purpose outcomes
- A whole-of-life mindset and a passion for improving delivery performance at scale
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines
Most importantly, you are the kind of leader who can step into an evolving role, bring clarity and influence, and help shape the future of this capability within the business.
