About the role
At Transgrid, we’re enabling the energy transition and building the high-voltage transmission system that will power Australia’s future. We are seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to take a leading role in modelling, analysis, and strategic recommendations that shape the NSW electricity network.
What you’ll do
- Lead modelling, forecasting and network analysis to inform long-term system developments
- Author and review technical reports, option studies, and stakeholder presentations
- Drive the development of power system analysis methodologies, models, and processes
- Provide expert advice on complex technical enquiries and emerging technologies
- Support and manage key system tools (PowerFactory, PSS/E) and Python-based applications
- Stay across changes in the National Electricity Market, standards, and legislation
- Build strong industry relationships with AEMO, DNSPs, generators, and regulators
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications desirable)
- Extensive experience in electricity transmission planning and power systems analysis
- Strong knowledge of the NEM, HV networks, planning standards, and technical legislation
- Advanced analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership in stakeholder engagement, change management, and technical negotiations
- Exceptional communication and technical writing skills
