Senior Design Engineer Transmission Lines & Cables

The Opportunity

In your role as Senior Design Engineer, you will provide technical advice, design expertise, and support in the development of standards for transmission lines and cables. Your proven expertise will see you manage and complete design work associated with transmission lines and cables layout design. Engineering work includes route selection, PLS-CADD modelling, line schedules, stringing tables and charts, rating assessments, design reports, site verification, drawings, specifications and design standards.

The successful candidate will have experience with high voltage transmission line design, with the ability to complete complex projects or assignments autonomously and provide technical solutions to problems.

What You’ll do:

• Provide guidance and advice to a team of design engineers.
• Perform, review and approve transmission line and cables designs complying to relevant Australian/IEC standards and Transgrid technical standards.
• Prepare and review or manage feasibility studies to determine transmission line and cables design requirements for proposed projects.
• Incorporate Safety in Design (SiD) principles into all design work.
• Provide regular progress reports that identify issues, problems and recommended solutions.

About You:

• Degree qualification in Civil/Structural or Electrical or Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in all functional layout design areas of a transmission line and/or cable.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian and International Standards and Codes of Practice related to transmission line and cable design.
• Ability to complete, review and approve project designs with external consultants
• Proficient in PLS-CADD, POLE, TOWER with experience in ProjectWise, MicroStation, CDEGS (Desirable), CYMCAP (Desirable), and other design tools.
