The Opportunity
Working closely with the Team Lead, the Senior Design Engineer – Digital Systems Design leads the design and delivery of Digital Systems (Control and Automation) for Transgrid projects.
This role provides expert advice, develops standards, and ensures high-quality, compliant designs. You will guide internal teams and external providers, supporting projects from concept through to commissioning.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare, review and approve substation Digital Systems designs (Control and Automation using digital technology) for Transgrid projects.
- Select and specify secondary equipment, ensuring compliance with project objectives and standards.
- Lead development of standards, templates, and tools for Digital Systems design and delivery.
- Provide technical support and advisory services across design, testing, commissioning, and operation phases.
About You
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong experience and knowledge in Digital Systems design for transmission, distribution, or generation systems.
- Strong expertise in IEC61850 technology for control and automation systems.
- Ability to complete, review and approve project designs with both internal teams and external consultants and contractors.
- In-depth knowledge of substation automation design and configuration, including HMI, gateways, control LAN, communication protocols, numerical relays, and emerging secondary system technologies.
