The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building transmission projects that will form the backbone of the new electricity grid, supporting the transition to renewable energy for many generations to come.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Associate to support the senior members of the Transgrid Network Emerging Projects team on key projects and contribute to the successful performance of Transgrid as a whole.
The role will provide critical support to project origination activities by:
- managing the project development pathway.
- considering timing requirements.
- balancing Transgrid’s financial needs and cost recovery; and
- ensuring projects deliver an appropriate risk / return trade-off and are in line with relevant regulatory frameworks.
The position will develop Investment Review Committee (IRC) papers to obtain approval for early project funding followed by relevant and subsequent stage gates, ensuring budgets sought are appropriate considering the risk / return / cost recovery dynamics of the given project.
The role will require extensive engagement and interaction with internal subject matter experts in the Network Planning, Project Delivery, Major Projects, Regulation and Corporate Finance teams to support holistic development of the emerging projects as approval is sought from the Executive and the Board.
About You
- From 5 to 8+ years professional experience in corporate finance, financial advisory, corporate strategy, strategy consulting, contract management, project development, delivery and/operations with a key focus on commercial workstream roles or other similar disciplines or functions
- Strong research skills to collect the information needed to progress new projects with the ability to stay informed of market trends and innovations
- Recent experience in structured large-scale network infrastructure asset processes is desirable
- Understanding of the National Electricity Rules and other key regulatory frameworks that govern the electricity sector in Australia (particularly NSW) is desirable
