The Opportunity

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Asset Standards Engineer to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

 

In your new role as the Senior Asset Standards Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of technical standards for the design and construction of substations and overhead lines/cables and specification of power systems equipment (including substation, transmission line/cable and secondary system design and equipment).

 

This includes the assessment of technical standards and specification, the performance of existing and new suppliers, and the opportunities and risks of new technology and equipment types. You will be collaborating with key stakeholders to develop innovative and optimised asset standards and specifications that balance cost, risk and performance across the asset lifecycle.

 

You will lead the development of optimised commercial and technical solutions for all aspects of the asset lifecycle, including performance requirements, asset standards, commissioning requirements and operations and maintenance requirements.

 

In this role, you will also be responsible for representing Transgrid on relevant national and international external bodies and provision of technical advice on power systems equipment. You will be assisting with defect and failure investigations and maintaining the feedback loop from in-service equipment experience. 

 

About you

 

  • Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in relevant high voltage infrastructure asset management, design and/or power system equipment development, design, commissioning, operations or maintenance.
  • Experience reviewing performance requirements, functional specifications and standards to identify both technical and commercial impacts on network development
  • Experience in the application of risk management to support asset management decision making.
  • Experience in leading Safety in Design and associated processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Electricity Rules relevant legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the preparation of design and equipment standards and specifications.
