The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Land and Property Officer to join Transgrid on a two-year fixed term basis. This is a critical role that supports the delivery of major infrastructure and capital projects by ensuring land access and property acquisition activities are effectively planned, supported, coordinated, and executed.

 

You’ll work closely with internal teams across Legal, Major Projects, and Stakeholder Relations, as well as external land agents, government bodies, and landowners. Your day-to-day will include supporting negotiations for property access, overseeing compulsory acquisition processes when required, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, and safety standards.

 

This is a hands-on role that requires both strategic oversight and practical project coordination. You’ll be key to helping Transgrid secure the land access needed to power essential infrastructure, while maintaining strong community and stakeholder relationships.

A Day in the Life as a Property Officer at Transgrid

As a Land and Property Officer at Transgrid, your responsibilities will span both strategic coordination and on-the-ground delivery across a range of land and property matters. You will:

  • Support Project Administration – Work with Project Lead in delivering project administration requirements in the key areas of risk, reporting, and project meetings.
  • Reporting & Project Coordination: Contribute to reporting, budgeting, and stakeholder updates; ensuring land and property considerations are integrated into the overall project lifecycle.
  • Acquisition Support: Support and manage both voluntary and compulsory land acquisition activities in accordance with NSW and Commonwealth legislation. This includes supporting Project Leads in the preparation of documentation, negotiating with stakeholders, and working closely with legal advisors.
  • Ensure Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain accurate records and property data, ensuring all activities are compliant with legal, environmental, and procedural standards.
  • Engaging Stakeholders: Work closely with internal teams (Legal, Stakeholder Relations, Project Delivery) and support Project Lead engagement with external stakeholders including government agencies, councils, and land agents to align land activities with project timelines.
  • Support & Access: Support coordination of entry for project teams, ensuring timely site availability while maintaining strong landholder relationships and managing access protocols.

 

 

About You

We're seeking someone with a strong foundation in land and property who can operate confidently in a fast-paced infrastructure environment. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Highly Precise: Meticulous attention to detail, taking pride in producing high-quality, precise outputs.
  • Experience in Land, Property or Law: 3-5+ years’ experience in any of the following disciplines:  land access, acquisition, tenure, law or portfolio management.
  • Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of property and planning laws in NSW
  • Property knowledge: Solid understanding of NSW’s real property system such as registration of easement processes, public geo-spatial systems (e.g. Six maps)
  • Agile, Practical Mindset: A proactive, adaptable approach to problem-solving with the ability to manage shifting priorities and think laterally in complex project environments.
