About Transgrid
At Transgrid, we play a central role in supporting a safe, reliable and evolving energy system. Our people work across complex infrastructure and delivery environments, bringing together technical expertise, commercial discipline and strong partnerships to deliver outcomes that matter for customers and communities.
The opportunity
This is a high-impact opportunity to lead project controls across a portfolio of complex delivery projects. As Project Controls Lead, you will be the central point of accountability for cost, change, risk, planning, scheduling, earned value assessment and performance reporting. Working closely with project leaders, stream leads, delivery partners and contractors, you will turn project data into clear insights, early warnings and practical actions that improve predictability and performance.
What you’ll do
- You will create the controls discipline and visibility needed to keep complex projects aligned, predictable and focused on successful delivery.
- Lead integrated project controls across cost, schedule, change, risk, contingency, earned value and performance reporting.
- Establish robust project baselines, Work Breakdown Structures and Cost Breakdown Structures, and oversee forecasting, variance analysis and funding alignment.
- Provide independent assurance, early warnings and evidence-based insights that support timely decisions and corrective action.
- Oversee contractor programme reviews, integrated master schedules, schedule and cost risk analysis, and change-control alignment.
- Influence senior stakeholders and delivery partners, strengthen controls discipline and mentor project controls capability across the portfolio.
What you'll bring
You are an experienced project controls leader who combines technical depth, commercial judgement and credible stakeholder influence.
- Degree-level qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent substantial industry experience.
- Extensive project controls experience in engineering and construction, ideally across infrastructure, energy, power transmission or utilities.
- Deep capability across scheduling, cost control, forecasting, change control, risk, earned value assessment and establishment of cost and schedule baselines from first principles.
- Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to challenge assumptions, influence decisions and manage complex internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Sound knowledge of recognised project controls and project management methodologies or standards, such as PMBOK, AACE, P3O, P3M3 or PRINCE2.
Why join us?
You will have the visibility and influence to shape how major projects are controlled, challenged and improved. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on technical leadership, giving you the opportunity to build consistent controls practices, develop others and help delivery teams make better decisions with greater confidence.
