The Opportunity

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join Transgrid as Principal Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of high voltage transmission system developments. You’ll lead cutting-edge power systems analysis, formulating strategic recommendations to optimise network performance while driving both short-term and long-term enhancements.

 

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. You’ll also spearhead the development of innovative solutions, manage complex technical challenges, and lead the coordination of joint network planning to make a significant impact in a dynamic field.

 

About You

 

  • Tertiary qualifications at degree level in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent relevant experience and experience in the electricity industry, with Postgraduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline and knowledge in market modelling and simulation being desirable
  • Extensive experience in the analysis and development of electricity transmission systems 
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, contractors, technical experts, and senior management
  • Substantial experience in the legislation and technical standards guiding system planning and working in accordance with a Quality Assurance System
  • Extensive knowledge of national and international planning standards and practices, electrical networks engineering and operations, risk management (qualitative and quantitative) and quality assurance principles
  • Well-developed people and service management skills, excellent written communications skills for persuasive reports and submissions, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and proven experience in change management
