About the role

 

We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Delivery Manager to lead the successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic business and technology initiatives within our Technology & Transformation division. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving complex transformation programs, business process improvements, technology uplifts and enterprise-wide change initiatives that support Transgrid's strategic objectives. 

 

As the primary delivery partner to business stakeholders, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery lifecycle across multiple programs and projects, ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed scope, budget, timeline and quality expectations. You'll lead high-performing teams, navigate competing priorities, manage cross-portfolio dependencies and help shape the evolution of delivery practices across the organisation

 

Working closely with Technology Business Partners, Enterprise Architecture, PMO, Cyber, Data & AI, Change Management and senior business leaders, you will play a key role in enabling successful transformation outcomes that deliver measurable value across the business.

 

What you'll do

 

  • Lead the delivery of a portfolio of strategic business and technology initiatives, ensuring projects achieve agreed outcomes across scope, budget, timeline and quality. 

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to Project Managers and delivery teams, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and act as the primary delivery interface for stakeholders across your portfolio.

  • Manage cross-functional dependencies, delivery risks and competing priorities to maintain delivery momentum and maximise business value.

  • Drive effective governance, reporting, financial management and benefits realisation across the portfolio while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with architecture, cyber, operations and vendor teams to ensure solutions are delivered effectively and transitioned successfully into business operations.

  • Contribute to enterprise-wide delivery capability uplift by influencing governance frameworks, methodologies and operating model improvements.

 

What you'll bring

 

  • Demonstrated experience leading large portfolios of technology, transformation and business change initiatives within complex enterprise environments.

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing delivery teams, including senior project managers and program leaders.

  • Strong expertise in portfolio management, governance, financial management, benefits realisation and delivery assurance.

  • Experience engaging with senior executives and influencing stakeholders across multiple business functions.

  • Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies, with the ability to apply the right approach for the environment. 

  • Experience managing delivery partners, vendors and complex stakeholder ecosystems. 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Engineering or a related discipline. PMP, MSP, SAFe or similar certifications will be highly regarded.
