About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and dynamic professional to join Transgrid as the Manager Network Transition Planning. As a newly established role, it offers the chance to shape both the position and the team, making a meaningful impact from the outset.

As the Manager Network Transition Planning, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between long-term strategic planning and short-term operational execution. In your new role you will focus on the critical transitional phase between network planning and network operations, ensuring a smooth and effective shift.

A key objective of the role is enabling the power system to function closer to its evolving technical limits, so you will work to mitigate risks associated with project delays, unserved energy, and network constraints. Additionally, you will evaluate the impact of changes in the network build program and any unforeseen disruptions, safeguarding medium-term network stability.

This is the perfect role for someone who is highly technical coupled with exceptional stakeholder skills and leadership capability.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the electricity sector or related industries
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline
  • Ideally, proven experience leading teams in network operations, network planning or a related field

The value you will bring to the team:

  • Extensive experience in power system operations and planning, including analysis, modelling, and the evolution of people, processes, and tools to meet changing requirements
  • Proven track record in leading technical change programs within the electricity industry
  • Deep knowledge of national and international standards and best practices in system operations and planning, with in-depth understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and its implications for the NSW high-voltage network and Transgrid’s business
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment, transparency, and shared outcomes across complex initiatives
  • Experienced in producing persuasive reports and formal submissions for executive and regulatory audiences
  • Strong capability in identifying, developing, and implementing projects that deliver measurable value to customers, consumers, and stakeholders
