The Opportunity

Due to growth in our business, Transgrid is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel – Property to join our team in Ultimo Head Office. Reporting into our Managing Counsel you will be responsible for supporting Transgrid and Lumea in the delivery of critical major infrastructure projects and renewable energy connections. These significant projects are integral to the energy transition of the national electricity system to a renewables based system.

The position will provide legal support and work closely with the project and property teams and assist in all legal and commercial aspects of these significant projects. This will include leading contractual negotiations, providing strategic legal guidance, liaising with government agencies, support in management of landowners and project stakeholders, managing external lawyers and providing advice to ensure the projects are delivered successfully.

 

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess some or all of the following:

 

  • Admitted (or able to be admitted) as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
  • Minimum 7-10 years property law experience (preferably gained in private practice and in-house).
  • Experience in working within the property sector
  • Strong commercial drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working on large projects (land acquisition by agreement and by compulsory process) and experience in dealing with government agencies.
  • Highly capable in identifying and understanding commercial and legal risks.
  • Ability to be team-focused and also work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
