The opportunity

 

In your role as Lead Estimator, you will provide technical expertise and leadership in cost estimation for major transmission and substation projects, ensuring accurate and commercially focused project estimates.

 

Working closely with the Senior Manager and Principal Estimator, you will manage complex estimating tasks, drive continuous improvement in estimating processes and contribute to strategic initiatives.

 

What you'll do

 

  • Develop and review cost estimates for complex projects and provide recommendations.
  • Prepare and validate detailed cost estimates whilst contributing to benchmarking and cost analysis initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to Senior Estimators and Estimators within the team.
  • In conjunction with the Principal Estimator, prepare high-level reports and basis-of-estimate documentation to support executive decision-making.

 

About You

 

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in cost estimation for major infrastructure projects, ideally in transmission and substation works
  • Proven leadership in managing estimation teams, systems, and processes
  • Advanced knowledge of estimation tools, risk evaluation, and strong commercial acumen
  • Experience with RIB MTWO, Palisade @Risk, and statistical analysis tools (highly regarded)
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and report writing skills
