The Opportunity

 

The Intermediate Engineer – Equipment Engineering will see you responsible for providing technical expertise on high voltage equipment to support capital projects, operations, and maintenance. With support from the Principal and Senior Equipment Engineers, you will contribute to the development of technical standards, investigate new technologies, and ensure reliable, cost-effective solutions aligned with Transgrid’s strategic objectives.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Provide expert technical support across the transmission network, including equipment selection, performance analysis, and defect investigations.
  • Ensure equipment compliance through supplier engagement, documentation review, and factory/site inspections.
  • Support the implementation of new technology and new equipment types and take the lead for HV plant with identification and investigation of new technologies.
  • Support the Senior and Principal Equipment Engineers to specify, procure and manage the engagement of external technical advice.

 

About You

 

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering with extensive experience in high voltage equipment.
  • Strong communication skills for the generation and development of specifications, standards, bid contributions, training and mentoring.
  • Proven experience in equipment specification, design review, testing, and supplier engagement.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HV equipment, insulation systems, safety in design, and engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of systems including Word, Excel, TRIM, Ellipse.
