The Opportunity 

 

In your role as Intermediate Design Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the technical standards and systems that support a smarter, safer, and more sustainable energy future. This is a unique opportunity to lead and contribute to the design of critical infrastructure projects, including customer connections, asset upgrades, and major system augmentations.

You’ll be at the forefront of developing and maintaining protection and metering standards, ensuring compliance with national regulations and delivering innovative solutions that support the energy transition. Collaborate with a team of experts, solve complex engineering challenges, and make a tangible impact on the future of energy in NSW and beyond.

 

What You’ll Do 

 

  • Lead and approve protection and metering designs for customer connections, asset upgrades, and major projects.
  • Develop and maintain design standards, relay settings, and configurations that ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and fault investigations to support project planning and system operations.
  • Provide urgent technical advice during commissioning and support the Asset Monitoring Centre.
  • Manage design planning, budgeting, and scheduling to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.

 

About You 

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent, with experience in protection design for transmission, distribution, or generation systems.
  • Proficient in configuring numerical relays and conducting power system analysis for high-voltage protection design.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills, with a high standard of professionalism and personal integrity.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and familiar with relevant Transgrid business systems.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments.
