New renewable generation is being built across the eastern seaboard and will connect to the grid to get that electricity to market.

 

Our major projects are a priority for Governments and for the nation. The integration of renewables will secure and strengthen the electricity network and enable greater sharing between NSW, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

 

The Health and Safety Project Manager is responsible for managing diverse health and safety improvement projects, initiatives and systems development efforts within Transgrid Major Projects. This role requires an initiative-taking approach to ensuring that health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards are met and continuously improved upon. The H&S Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional and project teams, including operations, human resources, and external partners, to ensure the successful implementation of health and safety projects within Major Projects.

 

This position is placed within Major Projects and will draw on technical support from the wider TransGrid H&S team in ensuring project H&S standards, documentation and practices meet TransGrid’s standard requirements whilst ensuring that any improvement projects are successfully delivered.

 

As Health and Safety Project Manager – Major Projects you will:

 

  • Manage health and safety projects ensuring that all deliverables are met on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • In conjunction with HSE Director, identify opportunities for health and safety improvements within Major Projects.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Major Projects health and safety management systems, to align with the Corporate and Project Management Framework requirements.
  • Work closely with the HSE Director, HSE Managers, Project Directors and other stakeholders to integrate health and safety considerations into all aspects of Major Projects.
  • Ensure that all health and safety projects and initiatives comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate and report on status of selected HSE related projects.

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualifications at degree or associate diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in Health and Safety 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of H&S related improvement projects.
  • Excellent oral and written skills, superior communications skills with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas through clear and effective messages.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing effective stakeholder relationships, with demonstrated high level interpersonal skills.
  • The successful candidate will have working knowledge of the requirements of WHS legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, Australian and international Standards and Guidelines
  • Competent in the development and application of H&S Management Systems and procedures
  • Auditing in compliance with ISO standards and certification
  • Conceptual and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to coach and mentor for results
  • Well-developed and demonstrable presentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Current driver’s licence
