The Opportunity

 

The Equipment Engineer role will see you responsible for providing expertise on high voltage equipment to support capital projects, operations, and maintenance. You will support investigations into issues with both new and existing high voltage equipment, including defects and failures.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Develop and manage technical standards and specifications for HV and MV equipment to meet Transgrid’s long-term objectives.
  • Ensure equipment compliance through supplier engagement, documentation review, and factory/site inspections.
  • Provide technical advice and support for substation equipment across the transmission network.
  • Contribute to technical investigations into equipment defects and failures, recommending corrective and preventative actions.
  • Evaluate tenders, supplier capabilities, and manufacturing facilities to support sourcing strategies.

 

About You

 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Advanced Diploma with extensive HV equipment experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with initiative and problem-solving capability.
  • Proven experience in supplier engagement, design reviews, testing, and technical issue resolution.
  • In-depth knowledge of power systems equipment, insulation systems, engineering practices, and safety in design.
  • Knowledge of systems including Word, Excel, TRIM, Ellipse.
