The Opportunity
Are you a power system engineer passionate about enabling the rapid transformation of Australia’s electricity system? Do you have experience in power system modelling and design, a creative mindset, and a keen interest in emerging technologies? Do you want to be part of a team that drives meaningful changes to the processes, policies, and rules governing network connections?
We’re hiring for an Engineer in the Network Connections team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing technical assessments, network modelling, and analysis to support generator connections and high-voltage transmission system developments. You’ll work across the Network business unit, contributing to robust technical reports, developing network models, and enhancing power system analysis and connection processes.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct technical assessments for generator and load connection applications, including performance standards, compliance, and commissioning
- Investigate complex system-wide issues affecting new and existing generator connections
- Help shape the future of connection processes, policies, and technical guidelines
- Provide clear, data-driven advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
- Write high-quality technical reports and deliver presentations that influence decision-making
- Collaborate across teams to ensure stakeholder needs are met and exceeded
- Promote and uphold health and safety standards in everything you do
About You
You’re a curious and driven engineer with a passion for power systems and a collaborative mindset.
You bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 1–2 years in power system modelling, NER compliance, or generator connection assessments
- Proficiency in PSS®E or PSCAD (PowerFactory a bonus)
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, NER, GPS, SCADA, and protection systems
- Clear communication skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas
- Experience with Python scripting and automation
- Knowledge of the National Electricity Market and its impact on operations of the NSW HV network and Transgrid’s business
- A proactive, team-oriented approach
- Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills
