The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a role as an Engineer in the Transgrid generator commissioning team. In this role you will lead generator connection and commissioning activities, which mainly focus on validating R1 modelling results and GPS requirements agreed upon plant registration, using on-site testing. Also, you will be involved in monitoring and analysis of generator non-compliances, generator alterations and support Transgrid operations to resolve operational matters involved with synchronous and asynchronous generators. The practical knowledge that you acquire by witnessing on-site testing and resolving the technical issues in a pragmatic approach, will enhance your career potential.
About you
- Hold an electrical engineering or similar degree with demonstrated industry experience including generator connection or commissioning experience
- Demonstrated experience in performing technical assessments associated with generator connections or commissioning.
- Knowledge on the National Electricity Rules (NER) connection process, Generator Performance Standards (GPS) and relevant NER clauses and technical standards guiding system planning and generator connections.
- Effective communicator (written and verbal) with the aptitude to articulate complex technical issues to different stakeholders including customers, OEMs, contractors and other technical experts.
- Skills on PSCAD and PSS/E as well as experience in python scripting and automation of power system analysis tools will be an advantage.
