We are seeking two Technical Capability Trainers with strong substation expertise to join our Technical Development team. Reporting to the Training Program Lead Substations, these roles play a critical part in building and sustaining capability across our substation workforce.
These positions are hands on technical training roles responsible for delivering and assessing substation focused training for apprentices’ technicians and newly onboarded employees across the network. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of training programs ensuring they remain current compliant and aligned with operational practices and emerging technology.
This opportunity and offers the chance to influence how technical capability is developed across Transgrid while working closely with operational leader’s subject matter experts and the broader Technical Development team.
A Day in the Life at Transgrid
No two weeks look the same in this role. Your time will be split between delivery focused weeks and office-based planning and development work.
Depending on the week you may be:
- Delivering substation technical training including classroom theory practical activities and competency-based assessments
- Supporting apprentices, technicians, and new starters through structured learning pathways
- Travelling to Transgrid depots and training locations across NSW to deliver training
- Reviewing updating and improving training materials assessments and learner resources
- Participating in validation moderation and continuous improvement activities
- Collaborating with the Training Program Lead RTO team instructional designers and field leaders
- Providing coaching mentoring and additional support to learners as required
About You
You are a technically credible substation professional who enjoys developing others and sharing your knowledge. You are comfortable delivering training in both classroom and field environments and can operate autonomously while working closely with a broader team.
You will bring:
- Trade qualification with hands-on experience working on substation assets
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent with relevant experience
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to obtain within six months
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with learners and stakeholders at all levels
- A growth mindset with a focus on continuous learning and continuous improvement
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently; including spending approximately two out of every four weeks away from home delivering training across multiple locations
