The Opportunity

 

We are looking for a forward-thinking Senior Engineer to join our Network Transition Planning team. This is a high-impact role where you will apply your technical expertise to help shape the future of the NSW electricity system. You will work across the medium-term planning horizon, linking long-term strategy with actionable insights that support near-term operations.

 

Your work will focus on identifying and solving emerging challenges such as minimum operational demand, evolving generation and load patterns, and the timing of major transmission projects. You will deliver analysis and recommendations that inform executive and board-level decisions, helping to ensure a secure, reliable and efficient energy transition for Transgrid and its customers.

What You Will Be Doing

 

  • Develop and implement medium-term transition plans through technical modelling and risk analysis
  • Conduct advanced power system studies to support operational resilience and strategic decision-making
  • Monitor system risks and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies
  • Prepare reports and briefings for technical and non-technical audiences, including executives and boards
  • Support policy and reform initiatives through technical advice and industry engagement
  • Contribute to a high-performance team culture and mentor junior engineers

 

About You

 

You are a technically skilled engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges and enabling Australia’s energy transition. You are collaborative, analytical and confident working across diverse stakeholder groups.

 

You bring:

 

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in power system modelling, planning or operations
  • Knowledge of the National Electricity Market, National Electricity Rules and energy reform initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas suitable for various audiences
  • A proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
