The Opportunity

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of a once in a generation transformation of the NSW power network.

 

As the Senior Asset Strategist (Transmission Lines) you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the renewal and maintenance strategies for Transgrid’s high voltage Transmission Lines assets.

 

You will provide strategic advice to the Transmission Lines Asset Manager on issues related to assets through the implementation of best practice asset management.

 

This role will see you setting the strategy and maintenance requirements for our Transmission Lines assets for the entire asset lifecycle. A technical guru, you will also provide advice for future development needs of Transmission Line Assets.

 

The Senior Asset Strategist is responsible for:

 

  • Reviewing of transmission line asset condition and performance and develop appropriate Transmission Line Asset Management Strategy and Plans over the entire asset lifecycle  
  • Reviewing and developing asset health index, probability of failure, and consequence modelling for transmission line assets.  
  • Reviewing and providing technical oversight of technical standards for design, construction, and maintenance of transmission line assets. 
  • Identifying, investigating, and implementing new technologies/equipment/work practice to achieve balance of cost, risk, and performance over the entire asset lifecycle  
  • Developing the appropriate governance documentation to identify needs, options, and justify investment for replacement or refurbishment of transmission line assets.  
  • Developing spares requirement for transmission lines asset through policies and strategies  
  • Leading/providing input into investigation of equipment failures and develops appropriate asset management strategies  
  • Representing Transgrid on external committees and working groups as required.

 

What we expect from you

 

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering with extensive experience in engineering practice related to transmission lines design, maintenance, construction and asset management
  • Sound technical knowledge of the design, construction, operation, maintenance or analysis of in transmission lines assets and equipment
  • Sound understanding of the concepts and application of risk management
  • Commercial acumen
  • Knowledge of legal requirements relating to the construction and maintenance of Transmission Lines assets, safety issues and the environment
  • Ability to apply both technical and economic components in the evaluation of options for solution of transmission lines and cables asset management issues
