The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to supporting the nation’s energy transition and ensuring the reliable supply of electricity to consumers for generations to come. As the Senior Asset Engineer (Transmission Lines) you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the renewal and maintenance strategies for Transgrid’s high voltage Transmission Lines assets to effectively balance cost, risk, performance over the entire asset lifecycle.
You’ll provide expert insights and strategic recommendations that directly support Transgrid’s ISO-certified Asset Management System.
The Senior Transmission Lines Asset Engineer contributes to:
- Development of economic and technical strategies for asset lifecycle management including renewal and maintenance needs and forecast future expenditure required to achieve Transgrid’s corporate goals and objectives.
- Reviewing asset condition, performance, and risk to guide decision-making.
- Review and provide technical oversight of technical standards for design, construction, and maintenance of transmission line assets.
- Identifying and implementing new technologies and practices to improve Asset Management practices.
- Develop the appropriate governance documentation to identify needs, options, and justify investment for replacement or refurbishment of transmission line assets.
- Develop spares requirement for transmission lines asset through policies and strategies
- Lead investigation of equipment failures and develops appropriate asset management strategies
What we expect from you
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering with extensive experience in engineering practice related to transmission lines design, maintenance, construction or asset management
- Sound technical knowledge of the design, construction, operation, maintenance of transmission lines assets
- Sound understanding of the concepts and application of risk management and asset management.
- Commercial acumen and understanding of asset investment justification
- Well-developed people and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements relating to the construction and maintenance of relevant assets, safety issues and the environment.
- Excellent written communications skills for persuasive reports and submissions
