At Transgrid, we are building our Control Centre capability to strengthen the resilience of Australia’s high-voltage transmission network. We are seeking a Real-time System Operations Specialist to join our System Resilience team and play a pivotal role in delivering operational technology solutions that will support our control centre well beyond 2031.
About the role
Reporting to the Future Control Centre Manager, this role will bring real world control centre experience into a range of projects, ensuring operational requirements are embedded in technical solutions. From 2026, the position will transition into a product leadership role, managing a small team that deliver value directly to control room operators.
What you’ll do
- Lead and support initiatives including a major SCADA/EMS upgrade
- Translate operational needs into robust technical requirements
- Conduct user acceptance testing, defect resolution and validation of solutions
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to optimise system design
- Identify and deliver quick wins to improve control room operations by 2026
- Act as delegate for the Future Control Centre Manager when required
- Drive continuous improvement, cultural change and customer-focused outcomes
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in control centre operations (energy or utilities sector preferred)
- Strong knowledge of operational technology systems in real-time environments
- Understanding of HV transmission networks, control, protection and communication systems
- Experience in user acceptance testing, SCADA systems, and fault finding
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, IT, and project teams
- Leadership or coordination experience, with the ability to guide small teams
- Resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in dynamic environments
