The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to play a specialist role in Energy Management System EMS and power systems analysis. This role is central to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of our Energy Management System (EMS), ensuring reliability, security, and compliance with evolving industry standards.
You will apply deep expertise in real-time power system applications, SCADA/EMS integration, grid optimisation, and renewable energy control, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of an increasingly complex energy landscape. As an industry expert, you will provide high-level technical advice on high-voltage transmission system operations to both Transgrid and third-party customers.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in electrical\Power Engineering and extensive experience in the Energy Management System, Modelling and Operation
- Experience in PSS/E and/or PowerFactory and the analysis and operation of electricity transmission systems
- Proficient in programming languages such as C++ and Python, with experience in GE SCADA/EMS (GE Habitat) systems.
- Strong understanding of the National Electricity Rules, system security requirements, and the National Electricity Market’s operational impact on NSW’s HV network and Transgrid’s business.
- Effective communicator across diverse stakeholders, including customers, contractors, technical experts, and senior management.
Desirable:
- Professional qualified and registered engineer (e.g., CPEng, RPEQ)
