The Opportunity
 

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

 

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Manager to be embedded in our Humelink Project to provide specialist and technical advice and support the project lifecycle to lead HSE activities for this $1bn+ project.

 

The role will require the effective communication of HSE strategies, linking policies and procedures, reporting and managing HSE incidents with a key focus on the continual improvement of HSE performance and culture in the workplace as necessary.

 

This role aims to provide effective support to the project team for a number of Transgrid Major Project workstreams including specialist safety advice and general security support both on-site and off-site.  As this is senior management role, it is expected that the incumbent will perform both strategic and on-site management activities.

 

Reporting to the Major Projects Delivery Director, Humelink Project the role will draw on technical support from the wider Transgrid HSE team in ensuring Humelink HSE standards and practices meet Transgrid’s standard requirements and specific requirements of the project are in all cases fulfilled.

 

About You

 

  • Proven track record in achieving outstanding health and safety outcomes.
  • Experience in comparable projects, ideally including $1bn+ project size, linear infrastructure and work in regional and remote areas.
  • Extensive experience implementing and monitoring operational HSE initiatives and processes that manage risk.  In particular felt and visible leadership and critical risk management.
  • Tertiary qualifications at Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in Health, Safety and Security Management systems.
  • Auditing in compliance with certification.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching and managing a team of Health and Safety professionals in a complex high-risk working environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HSE related operational issues associated with Infrastructure construction projects.
  • Investigation Qualification (eg ICAM).
  • Excellent oral and written skills, superior communications skills with strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas through clear and effective messages.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing effective stakeholder relationships, with demonstrated high level interpersonal skills.
  • The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of WHS and legislation, relevant Codes of Practice, Australian and international Standards and Guidelines.
  • Competent in HSE Management Systems.
  • Conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Well-developed and demonstrable presentation and report writing skills.
  • Excellence in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office applications and GIS systems.
  • Current driver’s licence.
