At Transgrid, we play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to millions of Australians. Operating over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, we connect electricity generators to the distribution network—powering homes, businesses, and communities.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Health and Safety Business Partner to support our Delivery business, partnering closely with leaders, project teams and delivery partners to help drive strong health and safety outcomes across construction projects and maintenance programs.

This is a predominantly site-based role where you will work closely with Delivery leaders and frontline teams to provide specialist advice, coaching and coordination across all aspects of health and safety. You will support the successful delivery of projects by helping embed safe systems of work, strengthening compliance, influencing positive behaviours, and partnering with the business to improve HSE performance and culture.

This is an opportunity to join Transgrid in a role that sits close to the work, close to the field and close to the people delivering critical infrastructure. You will have the chance to make a visible impact by supporting safe project delivery across a diverse portfolio, while building trusted relationships and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

A Day in the Life

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with project and site leaders to provide practical HSE advice and coaching
  • Support risk workshops, project HSE plans, investigations, inspections and compliance activities
  • Be present on-site during mobilisation and other critical or high-risk phases of delivery
  • Guide leaders and delivery partners on legislative, procedural and project safety requirements
  • Help drive hazard reporting, action close-out, assurance activities and continuous improvement across Delivery projects

Why this role matters

This role plays an important part in helping Transgrid deliver major infrastructure and maintenance programs safely, responsibly and in line with legislative and organisational requirements.

By partnering directly with site teams and project leaders, this position helps ensure health and safety is embedded throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and mobilisation through to delivery and close-out. It also helps strengthen Transgrid’s safety culture by influencing behaviours, improving reporting and assurance, and ensuring workers, leaders and delivery partners are supported to manage risk effectively in the field.

About You

You are a practical, credible and proactive HSE professional who is confident operating in field-based and project environments. You bring strong relationship skills, sound judgement and the ability to coach, influence and support others in a way that lifts both compliance and culture.

You will ideally bring:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HSE issues associated with construction or infrastructure projects
  • At least 2 years’ experience working on infrastructure construction projects, ideally within electrical infrastructure
  • Qualifications at Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety level or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice, standards and guidelines
  • Experience supporting incident investigation, risk assessments and site-based HSE activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Confidence working autonomously across multiple sites or projects in a geographically dispersed environment
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel and work away from base location where required
