The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-focused Controls Manager – Portfolio Governance & Insights to join our Infrastructure Delivery team. This role sits at the heart of how we track, measure, and improve the performance of our capital works portfolio. Ensuring that data, systems, and reporting frameworks are accurate, insightful, and fit for purpose.

 

Working closely with a broad range of stakeholders, you will be the go-to subject matter expert for project controls governance, providing intelligence and clarity to help senior leaders make informed, timely decisions. Your work will directly influence how we plan, deliver, and continuously improve our infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on enhancing reporting capability, uplifting month-end processes, and ensuring our systems deliver real value to the business. This role can be based from our Ultimo Office in Sydneys CBD or from our Wallgrove Depot at Eastern Creek, this is also a Hybrid position. 

 

Key aspects of the opportunity include:

  • Leading the uplift of reporting frameworks and data insights across our project portfolio.
  • Acting as custodian of project controls data, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Driving continuous improvement in reporting, governance processes, and systems.
  • Partnering with teams across Delivery, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction to achieve performance targets.

 

A Day in the Life at Transgrid

In this role, no two days will look the same, but your impact will be felt across the business. During month-end, you will focus on verifying project data across multiple systems, aligning cost and schedule information, and producing high-quality reports that are accurate, timely, and actionable.

 

At other times, you will be identifying process improvement opportunities, refining reporting tools, and working closely with colleagues to enhance the way information is gathered, analysed, and presented. You will also handle a variety of ad hoc requests, often becoming the first point of contact for portfolio performance insights.

 

Your typical activities may include:

  • Reviewing and validating data across systems such as Primavera P6, Power BI, and forecasting tools.
  • Producing and presenting reports that turn complex information into clear, meaningful insights.
  • Enhancing reporting hygiene and adding new functionality to existing tools.
  • Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to resolve data issues and improve reporting processes.

 

About You

You are a skilled project controls professional with the ability to interpret complex data, connect multiple systems, and present information in a way that drives action. Your background gives you a strong foundation in construction, engineering, or large-scale infrastructure delivery, and you have the technical capability to build and maintain robust reporting frameworks.

 

You thrive in environments where problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement are part of everyday work. You understand the importance of accuracy, consistency, and presentation when it comes to reporting at an executive level.

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in project controls or portfolio governance in infrastructure, energy, or utilities.
  • Strong technical skills in Power BI and Excel, with the ability to design and deliver executive-level reporting.
  • Foundational knowledge of construction, engineering, or capital works project delivery.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams, balancing competing priorities and requests.
