Date: 25 Jun 2026

Location: Sydney - Eastern Creek, NSW, Australia

Company: TransGrid

At Transgrid, we play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to millions of Australians. Operating over 13,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines and 128 substations across NSW and the ACT, we connect electricity generators to the distribution network—powering homes, businesses, and communities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Construction Managers to join our Infrastructure Delivery, Construction team and lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of transmission line and substation construction works across NSW.

This is a key leadership role within our construction workforce. Reporting to the relevant Construction Team Manager, you will help shape how construction works are planned, resourced, staged and delivered across a diverse pipeline of high-voltage infrastructure projects. You will work closely with field teams, contractors, project teams, HSE, Maintenance and other stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, practically and to the required standard.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work but also wants broader ownership across construction planning and delivery. You will bring structure to complex work fronts, provide technical direction, support sound decision-making and help ensure our people and delivery partners have the clarity, resources and support needed to perform.

You will play a leading role in:

  • Planning and coordinating construction work packages across transmission line and substation assets
  • Managing resources, outage requirements, construction staging and delivery priorities
  • Providing technical direction to internal teams, contractors and delivery partners
  • Monitoring construction performance across safety, quality, schedule, cost and risk
  • Building strong relationships across field teams, project stakeholders and external delivery partners

This is not a single project role. You will be part of Transgrid’s long-term construction capability, supporting a pipeline of critical infrastructure works across NSW. Your leadership will help deliver the assets, systems and capability needed to support customers, communities and the clean energy transition.

Location Options

We are open to candidates based across our NSW depot network, including Sydney, Newcastle, Yass, Wagga Wagga, Tamworth and Orange as we have opportunities in each of these locations.

A Day in the Life

This role gives you the opportunity to be close to the work, close to the people and close to the decisions that shape safe and successful construction delivery.

You could be:

  • Leading early construction planning for transmission line and substation work packages
  • Coordinating resources, outage plans, construction staging and delivery priorities
  • Providing practical technical direction to teams, contractors and delivery partners
  • Monitoring construction progress across safety, quality, schedule and budget
  • Working with Maintenance, HSE, Project Delivery and external stakeholders to resolve issues and keep work moving

Why this role matters

As a Construction Manager, you will help build and strengthen the infrastructure that keeps electricity flowing across NSW and the ACT. Your leadership will directly influence how construction work is planned, resourced, staged and delivered. You will help ensure our people and partners work safely, our assets are delivered to standard and our construction teams continue to build the capability needed for the future.

About You

You are a practical and safety-focused construction leader who understands the realities of complex field delivery. You know how to lead through ambiguity, build trust and create clarity for teams working across multiple sites and priorities.

You will bring:

  • In-depth experience in construction, testing and commissioning of transmission, substation or major electrical infrastructure assets
  • An electrical trade certificate, relevant diploma or degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management or equivalent
  • Strong experience in construction planning, work package delivery, resource coordination and contractor oversight
  • Sound understanding of WHS, environmental requirements, construction risk management and site safety expectations
  • Strong communication skills, stakeholder management capability and the ability to lead across multiple sites

You will also hold a current NSW Driver’s Licence and be willing to undertake regular travel across NSW, including periods away from your nominated base location as required.
