The Opportunity
A great opportunity has become available for a Design Engineer to join the Civil & Structural Design team at Transgrid.
Under the guidance of Senior Engineers, the Design Engineer will assist with preparing designs, reports, technical assessment and documentation for high voltage substation civil & structural works.
This role offers strong development opportunities, where you will gain hands‑on experience and build capability across both technical and project-related activities.
What you’ll do
- Assist with civil and structural design tasks, ensuring alignment with Australian/IEC standards and Transgrid technical requirements.
- Support senior engineers by contributing to design reviews, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
- Participate in Safety in Design activities and help prepare associated inputs and reports.
- Contribute to field assessments, feasibility studies and specialist investigations by gathering and summarising technical information.
- Help maintain accurate design documentation, updating drawings, specifications and guidelines as directed.
What you’ll bring:
- Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering, with developing knowledge of design principles for transmission substations and related infrastructure.
- Understanding of relevant Australian and international standards, legislation and policies, with a strong willingness to continue building technical competency.
- Ability to support senior engineers in delivering project designs and coordinating with external consultants under supervision.
- Collaborative working style with strong communication skills, professionalism and a commitment to quality processes.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn engineering software and business systems (e.g., ProjectWise, Microstran, MicroStation, Civil 3D), along with solid Microsoft Office skills.
