The Opportunity
As the Construction Training & Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our construction workforce is skilled, compliant, and prepared for the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry. Reporting to the Technical Development Manager, you will also work closely with the Head of Construction, leadership teams, and site staff to identify skill gaps, design training programs, and implement workforce development strategies.
This role is a unique blend of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on training program execution. You will develop and oversee training initiatives that meet industry standards and WHS regulations, ensuring our workforce remains at the forefront of best practices. From compliance training to career development frameworks, you will be responsible for shaping the future of learning and growth within our construction teams. Further to this, you will partner with leadership to develop a framework for staff progression and manage subsequent training programs as Transgrid continues to grow.
A Day in the Life as our Construction Training & Development Manager here at Transgrid
- Manage relationships with internal and external training providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality training programs that support operational excellence.
- Ensure all training activities comply with workplace health & safety (WHS) and environmental regulations along with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Provide strategic advice and reporting on workforce capability, training effectiveness and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate and oversee a variety of training programs, including: Compliance & Authorisation Programs, Mandatory Training Programs, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Programs, Skills Development Programs & Technical Training Programs.
- Oversee the development of career progression frameworks and individual staff development plans.
About You
- Degree/Diploma in a relevant discipline OR extensive experience in training & development (traditionally 5+ years)
- Cert IV in Training & Assessment (or equivalent experience).
- Proven expertise in designing and managing large-scale training programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of WHS and environmental regulations within the construction industry.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel as required.
- These skills ensure that you can effectively develop the workforce, comply with regulations, and support business objectives.
