Our Network Commercial team plays a critical role in shaping the commercial strategy for Transgrid’s major network and non-network projects. The team develops and delivers commercial solutions that support the evolving needs of the energy system while achieving strong commercial outcomes.

 

Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, the Commercial team originates, structures, negotiates and manages complex commercial arrangements that enable the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects. Through strategic commercial leadership and strong stakeholder engagement, the team helps drive investment, manage risk and create value across Transgrid’s project portfolio.

 

The opportunity

 

Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you'll lead the commercial workstream across major growth projects from origination through to development and delivery.

 

You'll be responsible for developing commercial strategies, leading high-value negotiations, managing legal and commercial advisors, and ensuring projects are commercially robust, strategically aligned and deliver value for Transgrid and our stakeholders.

 

Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll partner with senior leaders across the business, government agencies, regulators and external partners to successfully progress critical infrastructure projects.

As a senior leader within the Network Commercial team, you'll provide strategic direction, foster collaboration and build capability across commercial workstreams. You'll lead and mentor a team of experienced commercial professionals, creating an environment where people are empowered to deliver high-quality outcomes and continuously develop their expertise.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Lead the commercial strategy and transaction positioning for major network and non-network infrastructure projects.
  • Drive the commercial workstream throughout project origination, development and delivery.
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations with government agencies, customers, developers and strategic partners.
  • Develop innovative commercial frameworks that balance risk, value and long-term project outcomes.
  • Lead and manage external legal and commercial advisors.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to Executive leadership, governance committees and the Board.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks while ensuring strong regulatory and contractual outcomes.
  • Partner with finance, legal, engineering and project delivery teams to deliver integrated commercial solutions.
  • Build strong relationships across government, industry and the broader energy sector.

 

About you

 

You're a commercially astute leader with significant experience delivering major infrastructure transactions and complex commercial outcomes.

 

You bring:

 

  • 10+ years' experience in commercial leadership, infrastructure transactions, project development or investment sponsorship.
  • Proven success leading commercial workstreams on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Extensive experience developing commercial strategies and negotiating high-value contracts.
  • Strong commercial, financial and legal acumen with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing external advisors.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trusted relationships across executive, government and industry stakeholders.

 

Experience within the electricity, utilities or regulated infrastructure sectors will be highly regarded, particularly knowledge of Australia's electricity market and regulatory frameworks.

 

Qualifications

 

You'll hold a tertiary qualification in Finance, Law, Engineering, Commerce or a related discipline.

 

Postgraduate qualifications in business or a related field are advantageous.
