About the Role
As an Asset Standards Engineer at Transgrid, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining technical standards and specifications for the design and equipment used across our network, including substations, transmission lines, cables, and secondary systems. You will assess suppliers, evaluate new technologies, and provide technical advice to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions in line with Transgrid’s strategic objectives. This role may also involve defect and failure investigations and representation of Transgrid on national and international technical forums.
What You’ll Do
• Develop, review and continuously improve technical standards, specifications, and documentation for power system equipment and design.
• Assess equipment and suppliers, contributing to sourcing strategies and technical evaluations.
• Support the introduction of new technologies and innovations, identifying operational and maintenance risks.
• Participate in defect and failure investigations, providing insights to improve asset performance.
• Represent Transgrid on Australian and international technical forums and committees.
What You’ll Bring
• Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 3+ years’ experience in design and/or power system equipment engineering.
• Broad conceptual knowledge across network asset functions and design processes.
• Experience in Safety in Design, Design Review, Deviation Management, and supplier technical assessment.
• Working knowledge of Australian and International Standards, quality assurance processes, and technical compliance requirements.
• Strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
