Power the next phase of Australia’s energy future
At Transgrid, we’re at the centre of Australia’s energy transformation. We operate and develop the high-voltage transmission network that connects generators to communities across NSW and the ACT — enabling renewable generation, system strength and long-term energy security.
As investment in the network accelerates, our Delivery Projects group is growing rapidly. We’re now seeking Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers to join us across a diverse and expanding portfolio of infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity | Project Engineers & Senior Project Engineers | Sydney, Newcastle & Regional NSW
These roles sit at the heart of delivery. As a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer, you’ll support and enable the end-to-end delivery of complex infrastructure projects, from early works and design coordination through to construction, commissioning and close-out.
Rather than recruiting to a single project, we’re building a capability-based intake. This means you’ll be aligned to projects based on your discipline, experience and interests, with opportunities to move across the portfolio as the program evolves.
This is an opportunity to see your work built, commissioned and energised, and to play a direct role in projects of state and national significance.
A Day in the Life
Depending on your level and assignment, you may:
- Manage technical inputs, RFIs and design coordination for construction
- Coordinate procurement, materials and contractor activities
- Support or lead elements of project planning, scheduling and reporting
- Resolve construction and delivery challenges in complex environments
- Manage as-built documentation and asset acceptance requirements
- Work closely with Project Managers, construction teams and specialists
- Contribute to safe delivery in greenfield and brownfield environments
Senior Project Engineers will also provide technical leadership, act as an escalation point on engineering matters, and mentor engineers within the team.
About You
We’re particularly keen to hear from engineers with Electrical and/or Civil backgrounds, though experience in other relevant disciplines is also welcome.
You’ll bring:
- A degree in Electrical, Civil or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Experience delivering infrastructure, utilities, energy or major construction projects
- Exposure to substation, transmission line, civil or multi-disciplinary works
- Strong coordination, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
- A safety-first mindset and respect for governance and quality outcomes
Projects you could be involved in
As part of Transgrid’s growing Delivery Projects portfolio, successful candidates may have the opportunity to work across a range of major infrastructure programs, including:
Synchronous Condenser (SynCons) projects
Supporting system strength and network stability as renewable generation continues to increase, these projects involve complex brownfield delivery, commissioning and integration with live assets.
Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ)
One of Australia’s most significant renewable energy programs, delivering new transmission infrastructure to unlock large-scale renewable generation and support regional growth.
Data Centre connections and network augmentations
Enabling the rapid expansion of data centres across NSW through new substations, network augmentations and complex customer connection projects.
Projects vary in scale, lifecycle stage and delivery environment, and assignments will be aligned based on capability, experience and business priorities as the portfolio evolves.
