Are you an experienced power systems engineer ready to play a key role in Australia’s energy transition?
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer with strong expertise in system strength and system security to join a high-performing network team. In this role, you’ll work on complex, high-impact projects that support the integration of renewables, large-scale generation, and evolving grid technologies.
About the Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will lead advanced power system studies and provide expert advice on transmission network performance and generator connections.
You will work across a broad range of projects, from analysing system stability and strength to supporting major infrastructure developments, while collaborating with internal teams, developers, and industry bodies.
This is a highly visible role where you will also contribute to industry discussions and help shape best practice in power system analysis.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Undertaking system strength and system security studies for transmission networks
• Performing detailed modelling and analysis using tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, and SSAT
• Scripting skills specifically Python and other commonly used programming languages
• Assessing generator and load connections, including performance and compliance requirements
• Developing and improving modelling approaches, including for emerging technologies such as grid-forming batteries
• Delivering clear, high-quality technical reports and presenting findings to stakeholders
• Supporting network planning through analysis of system stability, fault response, and reactive power requirements
• Working closely with internal teams, customers, and industry stakeholders, including AEMO
• Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team capability development
About You
You are a technically strong and commercially aware engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working at the forefront of power system transformation.
You will bring:
• A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
• Solid experience in power system analysis, ideally in system strength, system security, or transmission networks
• Hands-on experience with PSCAD, PSS®E, SSAT, or similar tools
• Exposure to generator connections and network performance studies
• Understanding of both traditional power systems and inverter-based technologies
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly
• Solid experience with Python or other automation scripting tools is highly regarded while basic familiarity with Python is required
