Senior Commercial Managers | Commercial Managers | Commercial Associates
Some commercial roles manage contracts.
These roles shape the future of critical infrastructure.
At Transgrid, we're looking for commercially astute professionals who can influence major infrastructure projects from the earliest stages — developing commercial strategies, negotiating complex agreements, navigating regulatory frameworks, and partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver Australia's energy transition.
Whether you're a Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Manager or Commercial Associate you'll play a pivotal role in originating, developing and negotiating complex network and non-network solutions that will help shape the future of the National Electricity Market.
Who we're looking for
We're seeking professionals who bring a unique blend of commercial acumen and regulatory understanding. You know how to balance commercial outcomes with the realities of operating in a regulated environment, and you're confident influencing complex negotiations with multiple stakeholders.
You'll likely bring experience from:
- Electricity transmission or distribution
- Gas networks
- Water utilities
- Other regulated infrastructure sectors
You'll also have experience in:
- Upstream project development, project origination or transaction management
- Developing commercial strategies for major infrastructure projects
- Negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing commercial risk
- Working within regulated environments and understanding how regulation influences commercial outcomes
- Collaborating across legal, engineering, finance and executive stakeholders
Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and influencing skills are essential.
Depending on your level, you'll:
- Lead or support the commercial workstream on major network and non-network infrastructure projects
- Develop commercial strategies that balance customer, regulatory and business outcomes
- Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements
- Manage commercial risk across the project lifecycle
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes
- Work closely with legal, finance, engineering and executive teams to shape investment decisions
- Influence governance, approvals and commercial frameworks that support Australia's energy future
What you'll bring
We're interested in people who combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. You’ll have:
- Experience in commercial, transaction, project development or infrastructure advisory roles
- Demonstrated success negotiating high-value, complex commercial arrangements
- Experience working within regulated infrastructure industries
- A strong understanding of commercial frameworks and risk allocation
- The ability to build trusted relationships and influence senior stakeholders
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Engineering, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
Experience with the National Electricity Rules (NER) or equivalent regulatory frameworks within utilities is highly regarded.
