The Opportunity
Are you ready to lead quality assurance across complex infrastructure projects that strengthen the resilience of NSW’s power system? At Transgrid, we are seeking a seasoned Project Quality Manager to play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our Class B high-voltage substation projects.
Based at our Wallgrove or Ultimo office, this role is critical in embedding a culture of excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll oversee the full quality management lifecycle, from design and procurement to installation and commissioning, ensuring every phase aligns with ISO 9001:2015 standards, regulatory requirements, and Transgrid’s Project Management Framework.
This is a high-impact role suited to an experienced quality leader who thrives on strategic thinking, operational execution, and driving collaboration across internal teams and delivery partners.
A Day in the Life at Transgrid
Your day-to-day will be varied and engaging, with responsibilities that span strategic planning, operational oversight, and stakeholder engagement:
- Develop and implement a tailored Project Quality Management Plan (PQMP) aligned with industry and regulatory standards.
- Lead quality assurance strategies across all project phases, initiation through to commissioning.
- Conduct internal reviews and prepare for external audits and regulatory assessments.
- Review and endorse Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), supplier Quality Plans, and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) protocols.
- Proactively lead issue resolution and non-conformance management across project interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, and Safety.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to project team members and embedded quality personnel.
- Ensure seamless integration of QA systems across multiple substation locations and delivery packages.
About You
You are a detail-oriented leader with deep experience in quality management for major infrastructure or high-voltage energy projects. You bring a proactive mindset and the ability to influence at all levels, ensuring quality is not only achieved but continually enhanced.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or Quality Management.
- Certified Lead Auditor – ISO 9001:2015, with a strong audit track record.
- 15+ years' experience in QA/QC roles across complex infrastructure programs.
- Proven ability to lead and implement risk-based assurance frameworks and governance structures.
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen with the ability to translate requirements into deliverable QA obligations.
- Experience with QA systems and tools (e.g., TeamBinder, SharePoint, Power BI).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring capabilities.
- A strong understanding of HSE integration within QA practices.
