The Opportunity
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering Transgrid’s substation maintenance programs, ensuring that assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and legislative standards.
As Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of maintenance programs for substation assets, supporting the routine and corrective maintenance of high-voltage infrastructure, including transformers, switchgear, and associated primary equipment.
You will work closely with the Delivery Manager to coordinate and monitor maintenance activities, provide technical support on-site, and contribute to performance reporting and governance. Your responsibilities will also include preparing specifications, evaluating tenders, and managing contractor onboarding and compliance. Additionally, you will support the maintenance of high-voltage infrastructure such as transformers, switchgear, and other primary substation equipment.
This role offers flexibility in location and can be based at any Transgrid office, with some travel required to support program delivery across our network.
What You’ll Bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or extensive technical experience, with additional training in leadership, project or asset management viewed favourably.
- Strong experience in electrical or utility maintenance programs, with a solid understanding of WHS and environmental legislation.
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive performance outcomes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across teams and managing contractors.
- A NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel and support organisational change initiatives.
