About Us

With a Major Projects portfolio of significant scale, Transgrid is at the forefront of delivering the transmission infrastructure essential to Australia's energy future. In support of our Clean Energy Strategy, we are expanding our capabilities to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of this once-in-a-generation project pipeline.

About the Role

As a Lead Estimator in the Major Projects Development team, you will lead the preparation of early-phase cost estimates to support investment decisions and regulatory submissions. You’ll apply risk-adjusted modelling and benchmark analysis, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure estimates are accurate, aligned with project scope and commercial strategy.

About You

  • Proven track record in preparing and managing capital cost estimates for large-scale infrastructure projects ($100M+), ideally within the energy or utilities sectors, ensuring alignment with project scope, delivery strategy, and risk profile
  • Advanced proficiency in first principles estimating, with the ability to develop detailed cost breakdowns across direct and indirect resources, using robust productivity rates, quantity take-offs, and industry benchmarking
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including the capability to analyse, normalise and validate contractor and supplier pricing, assess market competitiveness, and develop cost forecasts, cashflows and escalation models.
  • Clear and confident communicator, experienced in presenting complex estimates to stakeholders, including executives and regulators, with a focus on transparency, credibility, and investment-readiness.
