About Us
At Transgrid, our work improves the lives of millions – from lighting up sports fields, schools and homes, to powering the wheels of commerce and everything else in between. Now it’s your turn to make it happen.
This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policy documents outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.
The Opportunity | 2-year fixed term contract
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the development and delivery of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWOREZ), one of Australia's largest and most significant renewable energy infrastructure projects. Working across the northern region of NSW, you will help enable the connection of new renewable energy generation to the Transgrid network, supporting the state's clean energy transition.
Based in Newcastle, Sydney, or any Transgrid depot/location, you will regularly travel to project sites, substations and regional locations across the CWOREZ footprint to provide practical environmental advice and ensure compliance throughout project delivery.
Working closely with project teams, contractors, regulators and stakeholders, you will review environmental documentation, conduct site inspections, support environmental approvals, and provide guidance on environmental risks and obligations. You will also contribute to broader network infrastructure, maintenance and asset replacement activities where required.
Your expertise in environmental legislation, spatial systems and stakeholder engagement will help drive sustainable outcomes while supporting the successful delivery of critical transmission infrastructure that will power NSW's renewable energy future.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have experience supporting construction, maintenance, utilities, transmission or renewable energy projects, including environmental compliance and site-based inspections. They will also bring:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of environmental and safety legislation relevant to electricity networks or similar infrastructure.
- Proficiency in spatial systems and software to support environmental planning and decision-making.
